Numbers - 25:15 Meaning

“And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian.”

King James Version (KJV)

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

25:6-15 Phinehas, in the courage of zeal and faith, executed vengeance on Zimri and Cozbi. This act can never be an example for private revenge, or religious persecution, or for irregular public vengeance.

“Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.”
